The Budget Foundations series introduces supervisors to the core concepts of local government budgeting. Participants will learn how budgets are structured, how revenues and expenditures are tracked, how funds and account codes work, and how to read financial reports. The series also covers variance monitoring and current-year projections, helping supervisors manage public resources accurately, responsibly, and with confidence.

The Managing the Budget series builds on foundational budgeting concepts to help local government supervisors effectively manage budgets throughout the fiscal year. Participants will learn how to monitor spending, evaluate budget-to-actual performance, identify variances, anticipate financial needs, and make informed adjustments as priorities change. The series emphasizes practical strategies for maintaining fiscal accountability, managing resources strategically, and supporting sound financial decision-making.

The Recruitment Foundations series introduces supervisors to the full recruitment and selection process. Participants will learn how to build and manage an effective interview panel, select appropriate panelists, create a positive candidate experience, ask meaningful interview questions, evaluate candidates consistently, and make fair, well-informed hiring decisions.
